Monday, May 10, 2010: WEAK TEETH 7"
its been a while. you doing good? how are the kids? hows your job? glad all is well. i've been busy... yeah, traveling a lot, hanging out, its been fun... but i am super excited right now because i am working with this band, they're called Weak Teeth and they play passionate, raw melodic hardcore that is not only politically aware, but totally embodies the angst of living in New England your whole life. what? yeah, i am putting their first ep out, it is self titled, and will be available june 15 in digital and 7" vinyl formats. they're going to be touring a bunch this year on the east coast and out to the mid west, and you very well may see them in late october at this fest that happens in gainesville. they're going to turn some heads, i suggest hopping on this band wagon early! well, i gotta go, i have to go play wii fit, the obstacle course is fucking addictive. it has been really nice catching up.. don't be a stranger... OKAY! BYE!
Sunday, December 13, 2009: MISCHIEF BREW & GUIGNOL "FIGHT DIRTY"
Erik from Mischief Brew called me a few weeks ago and asked if I would like to release a cassette version of a new record he is involved in called FIGHT DIRTY, and naturally i leaped at the oppertunity to do so. FIGHT DIRTY is a collaborative effort with Brooklyn's Guignol, whih features members of the Hold Steady, World/Inferno Friendship Society, and Balkan Beat Box, among others. This partnership yields some exciting results, a record that is extremely diverse and showcases some of the best songwriting either group has done to date. The cassette will be available on their 5-date tour starting this Wednesday the 16th in Providence. The dates are listed below, once the tour is over we will have copies available online, and Fistolo will be putting the album on CD and Vinyl LP. STOKED!

December 16 @ AS2230 in Providence, RI w/ imadethismistake
December 17 @ Shea Stadium in Brooklyn, NY

Which LP is another matter, as it has yet to be decided. SYSTEMS is booking a winter tour, so if you're on the east coast and feel like helping our friends from North Carolina spread their doomy-seed, contact them through their myspace. Two Funerals are working on their new LP, which should be out around next summer. STOKED!
I am going to be setting up a central store location in the next week or two... I plan on stepping up the mailorder and promotion, which is exciting. Updates to come!
Monday, August 31, 2009: ON TOUR, PROVIDENCE RULES
long time, no update! i am currently on tour with neil sutherland and the honeyflow zine distro, it is day 14 of 41 and it is going amazingly. some big news is coming up, which i will announce as soon as i can. SYSTEMS is working on booking their winter tour and finishing writing their debut LP, the Two Funerals have mostly relocated to Richmond and are writing their second LP, and KGW is still broken up, which sucks. imadethismistake will be taking a break post-tour and i will be working on my new doom metal band, BACK STABBATH, a lot. im going to start writing for LP3 soon, and going on tour next summer throughout europe with neil sutherland for the BRIDGING THE POND TOUR 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO. get stoked!
Tuesday, May 19, 2009: NEIL SUTHERLAND; USA TOUR, NEW VIDEO
If there is one thing to be said about Neil Sutherland it is that he is the nicest bloke across the pond. Along with his band, Neil Sutherland & Friends, he put out one of my favourite records of 2008, Build Our Own, and is currently in the studio working on the follow up. I love this man and his music, and am excited to say he will be coming back to the states for a full USA tour with imadethismistake from August 15 - October 1. This tour will hit the Northeast, Canada, Midwest, West Coast, and pretty much everywhere else in the lower 48, sans the Southeast. Dates will be posted soon.
Also check out this great new video they just posted for the song "It is never too late to say stop" from Build Our Own.
Its Never Too Late To Say Stop
Tuesday, May 12, 2009: NEW WEBSITE, NEW HOME
So as of last Wednesday the Cottage Records has moved from Tallhassee, FL to Providence, RI. Peep the new logo for some 401 pride! I am excited about this place, Providence is an amazing city, full of positively motivated people, awesome local businesses, Narragansett beer, a strong community, and an amazing music scene [please refer to: Howl, Tides, The Body, St. Jude, Dropdead, Deertick.] I look forward to the label, and myself, maturing here. Our new mailing address is PO Box 23045 Providence, RI 02903
Also, thanks to Christer at BOP/Mutiny Zine for this kickass new design. There is a jukebox to your right below the featured record, click play for a nice mix of music we have released, will release, or just really enjoy. All the links are working, and all the content should be filled out by weeks end!
We are working on three upcoming releases. The first will be out early fall and it is one I have been stoked on for a long long time. Mose Giganticus - Gift Horse LP is almost done being recorded. We are looking at sometime in August to put it out, and it is going to be A M A Z I N G. Slanty Shanty Records from LA is handling the CD, and if they do as amazing of a job on this record as they did for the Commander! CD, it is going to be awesome. Expect this to be /500 with 3 colours. SYSTEMS is working on writing their next opus. I was in Carrboro hanging out with them and got to see them play their first EP, the Desert, in its entirity, as well as a good chunk of the new songs. [Cameron snapped the head off his guitar before they could finish.] They are really progressing as a band. I've always considered this band to take large influence from Savannah, GA bands. Whereas their original material was coming out more like Circle Takes the Square, the new songs seem to be leaning more towards Baroness a la SECOND. It is really great. Lastly I am extremely excited to be working on a project with Shannon Le Corre from the Two Funerals. There will be a concept 7" at some point. Expect some dark, dirty country twinged jams. Fans of Dark Dark Dark and Blackbird Raum should get S T O K E D.
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009: FREE ALBUM DL - THE TWO FUNERALS
Sorry about yesterday folks, i got the blue screen of death on my computer and had to re-do EVERYTHING. but we are back with the third installment of our free download series. Today I bring you one of my favourite all time bands, the Two Funerals. Dominique, Shannon, and Abby are three of the best individuals I have ever met, caring and awesome individuals out to make a change. Their music picks up the torch that bands like Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill & The Devotchkas left. Really empowering anthems about love, loss, and womens rights. They self-released a full length entitled "...Invade Poland" a few years back and then we released their killer 7", "Tell Yr Story." Both of those are available to you for no charge with a click on the link below. If you want to own the 7", it is available in 4 colours from www.vinylcollective.com for only $2.50 for this week!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009: FREE ALBUM DL - MOSE GIGANTICUS
Today we bring you our second of seven free downloads, this time it is two albums from the one and only Mose Giganticus from Philadelphia, PA. I met Matt, the man behind MG, when we were both associated with a label called Valiant Death. I was just finishing a three week tour in the northeast and he gave me a place to stay for a night and drove me to the airport the next day. Great fucking dude. Since then I have been able to watch him, and now his band, grow and release two outstanding records. The first, the Invisible Hand LP, was released by Valiant Death and contains the best cover I have ever heard in my life, as well as some fan favourites like "My Machine." The second is the Commander! 7" we put out last year. Give these records a shot, and get stoked, because his new full length, "Gift Horse," is going to blow your mind away when it comes out in July.

Monday, March 30th, 2009: FREE ALBUM DL - SYSTEMS
In late December I got the extreme pleasure of hanging out with Cameron, Spencer, and the rest of the crew in Systems. (At that point, their name had been Chairoscuro) I was overwhelmed with how genuine and nice the dudes in the band were, and how much they loved what they were doing. We all spoke and decided to work together and put out an LP sometime in late 2009. As the first installment of our free downloads series taking place this week, we are excited to offer you Systems' debut EP, The Desert. This 18minute opus is in 5 movements, and each one will take you places. The band plays doom and stoner influenced metal, akin to Savannah bands such as Baroness and Circle Takes the Square. Check them out, and if you like what you hear, pick up a copy of this CD which they self-released through their myspace. It comes in hand packaging with a gorgeous hand done poster. It is really a great presentation.

Friday, December 5th, 2008: HOLIDAYS-A-COMIN!
December is here and now it is time to remember the goold old days when jingle bells wasn't blasting through every window of every store, ever. With the holidays comes a big old update from us here at The Cottage Records.
The Two Funerals & Knock Galley West 7"s are both out and AMAZING! You can pick them up from www.vinylcollective.com, and soon to be other insane stores. Direct links to buy each record are on the sidebar to your right. Knock Galley West is currently on tour supporting the 7", you can check their dates out right here!
Mose Giganticus is wrapping up their touring for 2008 withsome east coast dates down to the southeast. From what Matt tells me, he is going to be off the road til February or March and then head out again, conquering North America like only he and the Emotron can. You can check out the rest of his dates for the year at the Mose Giganticus myspace.
imadethismistake just got an actual, permanent drummer, and is working on writing new songs for new releases that won't be happening on The Cottage Records, so fuck that band. But seriously, check out a decent mix of new and old songs on their February tour through the midwest. Dates can be found, who would have guessed, on myspace.
2009 is already looking like it will be a great year for us here at TCR, with our first ever label tour happening, and our second ever label tour happening. This summer imadethismistake and The Two Funerals will be heading out across North America for the first Cottage Records tour, with Mose Giganticus and Knock Galley West meeting up for a few days independently. I don't want to speak too soon, but it does look like November will bring imadethismistake and Mose Giganticus to the UK / Europe for an across the pond version of the Cottage Records tour, with PJ and Gaby & Neil Sutherland and Friends meeting up for select dates. BUSY BUSY BUSY!

Thursday, November 6th, 2008: KGW & TTF ALMOST OUT!
The pre-orders for these two records will be up at www.vinylcollective.com sometime today! The Two Funerals 7" looks great and is on 4 different swirl variations, and the Knock Galley West 7" is on grey swirl.
There was an unfortunate hiccup at the pressing plant and it turns out all 300 of the KGW 7"s have a skip in the third song on the A side, due to the fact that we are a small label we kind of have to eat the cost and sell these, so we are going to be offering the new 5 song 7" for just $3! It comes with accompanying mp3s that DO NOT SKIP, but the third track on the a side will. Unfortunate, but it doesnt take away from how awesome the other 4 songs turned out. This is a band that begs to be on vinyl.
Saturday, September 20th, 2008: PAPER SCISSORS ROCKETPACK
We just will be getting the test pressings for this record this week and the actual records should be in by very early November! This group is the project of Chad Bishop, the same man who was half of the amazing Cripple Lilies. The Dresden 7" contains the demo of the song Dresden, and the album version of Mustard Seed Boat, both from the forthcoming full length. The song Dresden is phenomenal and I think everyone should hear it. The cool thing about this record is that it comes with a Vinyldownloads.com coupon that has 10 EXTRA BONUS TRACKS! So you are getting a full length record for the price fo a 7"! You can pre-order the record BY CLICKING RIGHT HERE!
In other news, the Knock Galley West test presses came in last week, and we gave the go ahead for it to be made. GET EXCITED PEOPLE! These are 5 songs you cannot live, or die, without! Zombies, Cowboys, and Outlaws are all present and worth your while!
Sunday, September 07h, 2008: THE COTTAGE RECORDS @ THE FEST
New Website! And some exciting news... both Mose Giganticus and The Two Funerals will be making official appearances at the Fest this year, with imadethismistake still on the maybe list. When we know which shows everyone is playing, we will be sure to let you know the times. I do know TTF is playing at the Kickstand on Saturday night.
Speaking of SATURDAY NIGHT. I am working on organizing an unofficial TCR showcase at a warehouse in Gainesville, with the lineup including The Two Funerals, Mose Giganticus, imadethismistake, Pj & Gaby, Neil Sutherland, and O Pioneers!!!. PJ, Gaby, and Neil are coming over from the UK to take part in the FESTivities this year, so be sure to check out their myspaces for October East Coast USA shows!
Other than that exciting news, I am excited to announce our webstore has now been combined into the wonderful Kiss of Death Records store. Kiss of Death, if you do not know, is an amazing punk label out of Tampa, Fl which includes releases from New Bruises, Young Livers, New Mexican Disaster Squad, The Knockdown, and a ton more. All of our current releases, and our upcoming ones will be mainly distributed through their store, as well as No Idea Records, Vinyl Collective, and stores nationwide.
